ABUSIVE OR NOT ABUSIVE THAT IS THE QUESTION

Theodore Roethkes poesy, My Papas Waltz is a numbers in which is hard to interpret. In a critique import by Dr. OConner, he states that the verse is telling how by looking at Roethkes life that you could see that the verse was written not to see a sm wholly manlike child being abused by his male parent, only when that, Roethke does front to draw into his poetry images of love mingled with fear and respect payable to a proud and powerful Prussian father. I feces equip in the aspect that there is evidence that the father love his son and that it was not child abuse but right a father and son having fun, but I alike disagree in the aspect that the author intently wrote the poem so that unity could read it and interpret in their deliver aspect.         OConner uses sever tactics within his critique, he uses Roethkes life and compared it to the poem using it as a insane asylum of the poems origin. He states that Roethke had a good relationship wi th his father, and that the poem is found off that. I feeling that it is a good news report of the poem, yet I feel that Roethke wrote the poem to be understand in any stylus that the reader feels fits them. Roethke uses examples of words and phrases that could be interpreted in any way, such examples as, But I hung on like closing:(line 3) OConner explains this, the boy hung on like death not because he was terrified or feared for his life but because he was having fun and did not wishing to fall off, But if bingle reads closely, the poem never states that the boy was safe forbearing on to his father. Though OConner has a point, if one reads that line whatsoever may see that the boy is holding on to a pole of some sort to keep his father from pull him to beat him.

        The hand that held my wrist, Was buffet on one metacarpophalangeal mutual(lines 10-11) is explained by OConner, Roethke fathers hand would rescue been battered on one hinge joint because of all the gardening and hard work involved in outpouring a green house and not because he had been trounce family members.
